Street Stanzas

The Berkeley Poetry Walk lines a special block of Addison Street in Downtown Berkeley with more than two tons of poetry, 128 steel tiles, each a poem, inlaid into the city sidewalks.

Insider tip: The playfully curving arc of the walk inspires reflection. It’s a great way to spend a lunch hour or more, reading the works of poets renowned as well as under the radar. Berkeleyside recently ran an excellent piece by Lou Fancher on the Poetry Walk’s backstory. For additional inspiration, see the excellent book, The Addison Street Anthology, that really is the definitive guide. What’s your favorite poem on the Berkeley Poetry Walk?
